This family picnic is imagined from the viewpoint of Lusia Rosenzweig Milch (pictured in the foreground of the painting), the only surviving member of her family. Lusia’s mother, Necha Rubin Rosenzweig, who wears a green dress, sits next to Lusia’s grandmother, Frieda Rubin. Lusia’s father, David, died four years before the war. Necha then married Jacob Goldberg (not pictured) and they had a daughter, Ginia.
